Ex-Muslims and Death Threats

Hat tip to Chad over at IntheBullpen.com on this article: German Ex-Muslims Received Death Threats
The story is all too familiar. He or she who criticizes Islam is subject to death. Seems Islamic folk just can take knowing someone out there can’t stand the oppressive world of Islam. When SPIEGEL Online interviewed Somali-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali we learned just how the all-hallowed Islamic masters treat dissent.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch politician forced to go into hiding after the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh, responds to the Danish cartoon scandal, arguing that if Europe doesn’t stand up to extremists, a culture of self-censorship of criticism of Islam that pervades in Holland will spread in Europe. Auf Wiedersehen, free speech.

A short bio of Hirsi Ali is included for perspective:

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one of the most sharp-tongued critics of political Islam — and a target of radical fanatics. Her provocative film “Submission” led to the assassination of director Theo van Gogh in November 2004. The attackers left a death threat against Hirsi Ali stuck to his corpse with a knife. After a brief period in hiding, the 36-year-old member of Dutch parliament from the neo-liberal VVD party has returned to parliament and is continuing her fight against Islamism. She recently published a book, “I Accuse,” and is working on a sequel to “Submission.”

Hirsi Ali was born in Somalia where she experienced the oppression of Muslim women first hand. When her father attempted to force her into an arranged marriage, she fled to Holland in 1992. Later, she renounced the Muslim religion.

Good for her. Seems to me those that claim their religion to be the Truth, shouldn’t mind a little criticism. After all, if they’re wrong (those who criticize Islam), who cares what they say?

Closing time in the West

Syndicated columnist, Tony Blankley’s latest article entitled, “Closing time in the West” echoes my sentiments exactly regarding the moving of Halliburton’s worldwide HQ to Abu Dhabi.

The WASHINGTON TIMES - March 14, 2007– Rather than hold hearings or construct phantom conspiratorial tax evasion theories, Mr. Waxman, Mr. Leahy and their fellow ilk might consider that, since Congress won’t permit American oil companies to drill for the more than 140 billion barrels of recoverable oil that exists under American ground and in our coastal waters, it only makes sense for oil-drilling companies to go where oil drilling is permitted.
I wouldn’t blame Halliburton if it moved all its assets out of a country (that would be the United States) that slanders its good name rather than appreciates its world-class, vitally needed skills. What a pity if Mr. Waxman and his fellow anti-capitalists soon won’t have Halliburton to kick around any more.

For all of the slander and ceaseless accusations that Halliburton has received, I don’t blame them for moving. For all the environmentalist wackos who obstruct physically and politically the goal of US independence on foreign oil, I don’t blame them for moving. For all the lies spread about mis-conduct on the part of Halliburton in Iraq, I don’t blame them for moving.

I don’t like it one bit – this move, but I understand.

Democratic Governor Causing a Stir

Credit Michelle Malkin with the goal on this one. She has found a Democratic lock-stepper that isn’t lock-stepping with their party line of War in Iraq – Bad, Troops – come home now. Nope, she’s not talking about Joe Lieberman. It’s Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. Now let’s see how fast the party disassociates themselves from Gov. Napolitano. Can someone get an accurate count of how many lonely democrats there are out there — wasting away by themselves in the silent night with their consciences still intact? If this is a sign of things to come, I can hardly wait for the day when there is a national consensus on this conflict that is half a world away. Imagine how well our troops will fight, how fast our battles are won and how high the name of America will be once again, when we are happy with the national “face” we see in our own mirrors.

The North American Union and a 440 million citizen database

In a global instance of “keeping up with the Joneses”, the top leaders of Canada, the USA and Mexico thought they had it all figured out — we’ll form a union of North American nations and we can compete economically, geopolitically as well as militarily with the European powerhouse, the European Union. A few things, however, seem to have thrown a monkey wrench in the master plan…that is convincing the citizens to go along with this consolidation, the morphing of the United States of America into a new regional power house — The North American Union, where the natural fit of the US Constitution, and Bill of Rights is immediately questioned on the basis of relevancy and pitted against that sacred cow, International Law.

In addition to convincing a 300-million man citizenry of the US, tens of millions of citizens from Canada and Mexico will have to agree to have their identities and their citizenships re-defined. What a daunting and Orwellian thought!

Well, this futuristic, post-apocalyptic scenario is about to take place without a groundswell of opposition from citizens in all three countries. From the Palestine Herald, in an article entitled Real ID creates a national ID, columnist Wayne Stewart writes:

It’s easy to push aside singular news reports that point to the establishment of a super state comprised of Canada, Mexico and the United States, but when all of the available information is taken in its totality, the rise of the North American Union appears to be nearly a done deal.

So, again…it’s going to happen unless the citizenry rise up and wrest the power from this government driven by a global madness. What could have been going through the minds of our elected representatives for actually buying into this lunacy? Why would we give up our liberty and our freedoms to be controlled by a national database that comprises every citizen in America as well as Canada and Mexico’s unwashed masses. We are going to be controlled. Who do you wish to control you — an elected official with some slight sense of duty to his constituents or a monolithic governmental machine? And remember this… ultimate control over a people is the exact opposite opposite of liberty and freedom.

What? You don’t think this is going to happen?

According to the same article,

The PACT Act, which was introduced by US Representatives Louise Slaughter and John McHugh in February would require the United States and Canada to develop identical documents for use under Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI).

With Real ID and WHTI, mechanisms are being put into place that would allow U.S. and Canadian officials free access to each country’s identification databases.

What? You didn’t believe me? It would behoove each and every citizen to learn more about the Real ID Act and the WHTI now before you find yourself on the pointy end of a North American Union cattle prod.
