I think ICANN; I know ICANN (and Pollock's WiFi)...

Much confusion today in IT Blogwatch, as the U.S. says it'll cede control of the Internet. Maybe. Errr, well, not just now anyway, if it's all the same to you. Not to mention being Jackson Pollock and how to stop your neighbor stealing your WiFi......

[...] P.S. Weird that so many bloggers (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, etc.) took Malkin’s word for this and didn’t bother to do their own checking … big difference between a CNN report and a Reuters report carried on CNN.com (and, for that matter, MSNBC.com). Of course, since the blogosphere is “error-correcting,” I’m sure all these bloggers will surely have corrected themselves by the time you read this … right??
From the Louisiana State Constitution:

Article IV, Sec. 5 (J) Commander-in-Chief: The governor shall be commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the state, except when they are called into service of the federal government. He may call out these forces to preserve law and order, to suppress insurrection, to repel invasion, or in other times of emergency.

This would seem to indicate that the Louisiana Guard is under the control of the Governor. However, it seems the President is able to command all State guards.

Great post. Too bad it won't be read or its message believed by the people who profess concern over people but whose agenda is really bashing Bush. So much for the argument that all the National Guard and their vehicles (able to navigated flooded areas) are in Iraq, because they sure showed up in New Orleans the past two days, didn't they? We sure did get them back from Iraq fast. Or, gee, maybe they were here the entire time, after all. Let's tie up loose ends here. Can you find and quote the authority that specifies that it is the governor of a state who mobilizes the National Guard, so we can establish that it wasn't Bush's role to do so?

As I read about how music has been subverted by Satan, I thought of how many other human interactions have also been subverted and that the threads of similarity and familiarity between our purpose and our deeds are what make us so vulnerable to evil forces.

For example, music reaches something deep in all of us and that translates to our enjoyment of it. To make the case that music is for worshiping and praising God inspires some but alienates others, the latter group being our focus. To them, it can be asked of what consequence is it that you ENJOY music? The same can be said for those who either devote or regularly reserve their music for singing praises to God Almighty.

So, enjoyment of music is not the standard. The purpose of music is indeed the point. The same, of course, can be asked of our purpose with regard to sex, acts of human kindness and charity, work, rest, defense of our values and lives, etc: the entirety of our consumption.

For most of us, these deeper questions are uncomfortable because Satan has successfully instilled in us the fear of loss of our individuality. Unable to have faith that the ultimate individuality is to
devote one’s life to God, we develop our individuality for the rest of the world to see ... and experience.

And just as music contains so much unnecessary negativity, so does much of our individuality as we prepare if for the eyes of strangers. But what is our purpose? To socialize, to assimilate? Without higher
purpose, we become self-promoters, hanging onto our individuality at such costs as to boggle the mind – the excessively detailed clothing of our bodies and our arguments, our misstatements of loyalty, our
confusion over the role of society, and eventually – after years of self-absorption - the diminishing of our capacity to ask the questions necessary to forge a life with God.

Given the innocence of childhood, it is difficult to say that we humans have lost our way. More likely we never knew the way. And who can blame us for giving over our lives to pleasure? There is nothing
shameful in hoping that all people come to God, to live in that perfect world. The purpose of the music, remember, is the point. But those people who have not made the journey, never had the answers. And that is also important to remember. In a way, it will require
a set of calculations for these people to figure out their potential. First, though, they must understand the need for simple addition.

Oh stop feeling so important...I'll decide for you. The old guy is clearly the winner. Besides, I think I could actually hang-out with the guy. The Hulk, however, would be a problem in a compact car running over a speed-bump. One wrong move and BOOM! There he goes, flattening my li'l Mitsubishi. That, I cannot have. Popeye is definitely "car" friendly.

A conversation occurred some 80+ years after the American Revolution. At that time, America was still very successful in its first form of government; but France, in those same eighty years, had already been through several different revolutions and forms of government. And so it was that when the French historian, Francois Guizot, asked the American statesman, James Russell Lowell, "How long will the American republic endure?" that Lowell sagely replied, "As long as the ideas of the men who founded it continue dominant."

We must become active in going back and relearning about the Founding Fathers-- relearning about their teachings and their ideas. There is no doubt whatsoever that this nation-- both in government and in education-- was formed on Christian principles, illustrated both by the textbooks and the writings of the Founding Fathers.

It it sheer folly to think that we can protect our foundations when we have no idea what our foundations are.

Perhaps progressives, needing relevance at the polls, could be persuaded to join conservatives in returning Christianity to prominence in our daily lives, including schools. The only question for people whose government is of, by, and for them is if their world is better for the presence of Christianity. The answer is a resounding yes. All other concerns and claims are of less importance, reflecting the natural order of all things aligned in life's numerous pecking orders.

Thanks, Rae. I haven't decided the format or look of my blog, yet. 2-column, 3-columns, fluid or fixed-width, etc... but thanks for the kind words! :-D

Opponents of a traditional America agree on the goal of removing her from Iraq. They say we have become bogged down in a quagmire and that President Bush misled the nation into a war that has nothing to do with fighting terrorism and made the rest of the world turn against us. But their simple-minded bias prevents them from seeing the brilliance of Bush's war strategy, which included the snubbing of an ineffectual United Nations bent on one-world government. By putting the greed of other nations squarely into his military plan of freedom for Iraq, Bush brought their resistance to a boil and terrorists took the bait, quickly responding to their dissed brethren by flocking to Iraq to do battle with the U.S. So while the president's critics bemoan the intensity and unpredictability of the ground war in Iraq, they either miss or avoid the point. War is never predictable or tidy, and we should all take heart that the Bush team successfully drew terrorists into Iraq where we can deal with them in one theater of action, instead of having to ferret them out in too many countries or fight them on American soil day after day.
