The Noisome Beast

About fifteen years ago, I published a monthly newsletter. It was called Sign of The Times. Although it was only live for about three or so years, the format merged politics with religion (my favorite things to talk about) and focused on the relationship of current events with endtime events. For a young writer, searching and learning about the world events and how they related to the Bible and me, I probably received more out of the “journey” than the hundreds of folks my newsletters reached. What follows is an article that I have read and re-read several times since it was written in 1998 and I hope you will enjoy, The Noisome Beast, written by Bryant E. Simmons, my dearly departed brother.

THE NOISOME BEAST: What will you be doing when God returns for his bride?

The Book of Daniel Chapter 14: V 15: If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: V 16: Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

I challenge every Christian to examine where they stand with God before it is too late. Today we face a journey of unforeseen proportions. This is the time of readiness. It is no longer prudent to say, I will take care of this tomorrow. Tomorrow is upon us now. It is time to put our house in order with God.

In the book of Daniel God speaks of noisome beasts, those beasts are clearly alive and well in our homes and lives today. This should alarm you but it probably will not. The beasts are; confusion, fallacies of doctrine and practicality, fear, hopelessness, lack of faith, loss of “the vision,” and I could go on and on. The modern-day Christian is sick and needs some fortification and that is because of our
attitudes about our walk with Christ.

We have allowed these ugly beasts in our personal lives and homes and now we need to clean house and put on a new man. As we face this new Millennium we owe it to ourselves and our descendants to open our hearts and ears to what God has in store for us, and turn our eyes toward his paths and his will for our future.

Many will ask how this can be accomplished? Many will ponder the seriousness of this question over and over. But, now is the time to act not think. God’s word is clearly fulfilled and the fullness of time approaches. Where will you be? What will you be doing when God returns for his bride?

The Beast of Confusion
The book of Second Timothy clearly states that we are supposed to be approved of GOD and not of man. How many of us never even crack the Book for ourselves?

“It is confusing,” or “I don’t understand it,” those are very common phrases I encounter when I tell others about opening the Book at home and studying for themselves. Why is it so confusing? It is because nobody cares enough to get the back ground on the subject matter. This book is the most precious of all of our possessions as a nation and as individuals.

The price that was paid for this book we call the Holy Bible is phenomenal. People have sacrificed their lives and the lives of their families to make it possible for us to have the liberty to study the Word of God. Yet we take this for granted every time we look at the book and never crack the cover. Oh, we will take it to Church, and yes, we open it when the preacher reads a scripture or two. When is the last time we read a single scripture for our own edification? That is why today there are hundreds of different religions and many are falsehoods that stem from doctrinal half-truths and many people are none the wiser because it sounds right.

We no longer can honestly say we are Christians founded in the word of God because many of us only know what we are told it says. It is time to correct this problem. If we would only open the Bible for ourselves we would see that there is clearly only one way to God.

The book of Ephesians chapter 4: V 4: There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; V 5: One Lord, one faith, one baptism, V 6: One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. We have eyes yet we refuse to see that God in his love has made us and kept us and is able to deliver us even unto the end.

The Beast of FEAR
Many have succumbed to hoopla of the “Y2K” thing. I am sure that something could happen and if it does I am sure that we could face some pretty terrible times. God has a plan and it includes his children, I am sure! I don’t pretend to know all the answers about what is going to happen but I know a solution and there is only one. He has always been the answer for mankind and will continue to be the answer for mankind throughout eternity. His name is JESUS! For all of those that call yourself a Christian and say you know the love of Christ, I say to you, BLAH!!!! You must not know the JESUS I know. His words were plain:

The book of St. John Chapter 14: V 6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God set this plan in motion before we were a twinkle of light and we are in his hands, his word says no one can pluck us out. Even so, you may climb out of his hands of your own choice. In his hands there is safety and salvation. His love for us is perfect in every way. He has clearly established himself as our Creator, Savior and Deliverer. We may be facing a situation we have never faced before and I say unto you, “FEAR NOT!”

The book of First John Chapter 4: V 18. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment…

I, like everyone, have my waivering and strong days, but when I am weak and ready to fall he lifts me up and makes a way of escape. Even when I am not worthy he is there. God’s grace is overwhelming at times. Why he loves me I do not know. But, never do I doubt that he is able. All we have to do is ask.

The book of Ephesians Chapter 3: V 20. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…

The beast of fear has no hold on you physically, only mentally. All you have to do is answer one question. Did you come to GOD because he was or wasn’t able to deliver you from your misery.

If you answered “he was able” then you have the answer to your fear already… HE WAS AND IS ABLE!

There are many other problems that the modern Christian faces. We are perplexing at the very least. Only God is able to deal with us. We are filled with problems on every end and we ourselves feel that we are not to blame. To the contrary, we are to blame. We have allowed ourselves to be talked into things that we should have taken a stand against for generations now. Just because our forefathers fell for the trick doesn’t mean we have to.We have resources our fathers and their fathers would love to have had at their disposal, and yet we never use them.

The book of Matthew Chapter 10: V 16. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

The nutrients and the vitamins are there but you have to take them before they are effective. We lack the spiritual vitamins that so many of our patriarchs and matriarchs had from the beginning of their walk with Christ. We are easily bewitched and set aside by the lust of the eye and the pride of life.We are weak because we have tried for generations to live by bread alone and that is contrary to the Word.We need to realize that the word is more than just a tool for the preacher but a substance and sustenance that we need everyday in our lives.

The book of Matthew Chapter 4: V 4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

In our hearts there are desires and problems that we have not handled yet because of our weakened state, and how could we, we have not sought God’s wisdom and understanding for our own lives. We pretentiously trust others to do the work of digging out the “golden nuggets” for us, then we gripe because we are poor and
afflicted. It is time that we work with them that are digging and maybe just maybe we will find something out for ourselves. Who will it hurt?

The book of Romans Chapter 12: V 1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. V 2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The book of First Corinthians Chapter 15: V 58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The book of Revelations Chapter 21: V 7. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

If we can just get these two beasts out of our lives then the other beasts will seem somewhat a breeze when we confront them. Go with Christ as he goes with you and be of good cheer!
