Captain’s Quarters blog interviews Bernard Goldberg and talks about Goldberg’s latest book “100 People Who Are Screwing Up America: (and Al Franken Is #37)”.
One exerpt from the interview caught my eye:
Captain’s Quarters: One of the things you touch on, you mentioned about not making judgments, and right in your introduction you write about that tolerance has turned into an indiscriminate tolerance. People must tolerate everything or be considered, like you said, a prude.
Bernard Goldberg: Or a square.
CQ: Right.
BG: I think that may be the single most important sentence in the book, to be honest with you. Over the years, we grew tolerant of all the right things. We grew tolerant of civil rights, we became more tolerant of women’s rights. We became tolerant of various kinds of rights, and it was a good thing that we did. But over the years, we became indiscriminately tolerant. We became tolerant of crap! To tell somebody, to make a comment about this crap is to be judgmental somehow. And somehow, being judgmental of crap has become a bad thing…
In agreement with that statement…I may be buying this book on that alone. Stay tuned for the next part of the Goldberg interview.
UPDATE: The 2nd Part of the Bernard Goldberg interview is online at Captain Quarter’s blog. Get it here:
In this part of the interview, Goldberg mentions that he visits Conservative blogs such as Captain Quarters blog, Power Line and Free Republic, among others who did not mention.
I wonder how many society parties and liberal engagements he’s gonna get invited to now. Just mentioning the word “Free Republic” will get him snickers, snotty looks and even the odd shouted phrase “fascist, racist, intolerant biggot!”. Yes…how nice those liberal moonbats are. Anyway…enough of this, get to that interview!
