Newsweek bashing America abroad?

Captain Ed over at Captain’s Quarters has this to say:
In short, while the pleas for mercy now originate at the top and use more effusive language, the message has remained the same — we’re sorry for doing nothing wrong, we won’t explain our editorial decisions in running this story, and it’s all the Pentagon’s fault for not stopping us. Smith should have saved himself the trouble.
This is getting pretty pathetic. Like Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit reports, the internet will likely challenge much more of the America-bashing that American journalistic corporations produce. Why some people and some companies choose to bite the hand that has fed them quite well, I will never understand. It seems to be the epitome of ungreatfulness of cowardice and peer pressure. All the things that adults consider puerile and unappealing.
Scared Monkeys blog, Blind Mind’s Eye blog and Ed Driscoll has more to say on the matter.
