Dan Rather to Resign after 24 years

WOW, did you hear the latest!?!?!? Dan Rather to Resign. And not a minute too soon, either. (All God’s children rejoice!)

Veteran newsman Dan Rather, embroiled in a recent journalism scandal about President Bush’s service in the National Guard during the Vietnam War, will resign in March as the CBS network’s top news anchor, the network said on Tuesday.

CBS, a unit of Viacom, said Rather will remain as a correspondent for the news magazine show “60 Minutes” and other assignments.

I’m speechless—awestruck—utterly frozen. I’m at odds with my pithy comebacks. I can’t decide if I should use the “well, I guess donkeys DO fly!” or the ever popular “did hell just freeze over?” option.

It’s bittersweet jubilation, at best. He’s still gonna peddle his brand of “stench” on the “60 Worthless Minutes” show, it seems.
